What is it?

Caffeine is a stimulant which is well known for increasing energy. The majority of us head for a caffeine drink such as tea or coffee when we feel we need a kick of energy.

Caffeine also helps the body in many other ways one of its main uses is for ‘dieting’ and weight loss. It is found in a lot of diet supplements to help burn fat, increase stamina during a workout and suppress appetite.

Found in:

Tea, Coffee, Green Tea, Chocolate, cola products, energy drinks.

Benefits:

  • Increase stamina
  • Energy booster
  • Fat Burner
  • Appetite Suppressant
  • Enhance concentration levels
  • Rid water retention

Are you lacking?

Caffeine is not required by the body so you can’t actually be lacking in it, but if you feel tired and want extra energy to get you through the day, Caffeine may help. If tiredness persists consult a doctor; there may be other changes you could make such as dietary, getting more sleep or rest periods – analyse your lifestyle.

How much should I take and when?

A lot of fat burners contain around 150mg-200mg per serving. This amount should not be exceeded; at the most you would take this serving 3 times a day.

Anything else I should know?

If you have a diet high in caffeine you need to be aware that it rids water from the body, which therefore reduces water from the kidneys, so you will need to up your intake of water.

It can reduce the absorption of viamins and minerals and can be addictive for some people.

Can be bought on its own but often comes in a complex with other fat burning properties which may work better as a fat burner. Some people find they can get addicted to caffeine and need caffeine a boost every few hours, so be warned.

Warning: May increase anxiety so if you are a sufferer or of a nervous disposition we would advise you not take Caffeine. Too much intake of caffeine can interrupt sleep patterns.

Not advisable for those who are pregnant or those who suffer with depression.

Also if you are menopausal you may find that it worsens your sweats/flushing and can make you have the tremors and have excessive thirst.

Caffeine products cause stress on the adrenal glands and can be toxic for the liver.
